Planet Telecom news - November/December 2011

Greetings from your Friends at Planet Telecom, and welcome to the November/December news update!

November was a very busy month for us at Planet Telecom.
We are happy to be back at work after celebrating the November holidays, and are refreshed and refocused on getting many more projects completed prior to spending time with our loved ones over the Christmas Season.

Here are some updates from the Planet Telecom Offices, and the Field:

In The Office:
Staff changes:
We are proud to announce that we have promoted Jose (who is bilingual) and Libni (Who can support our clients whose first language is Spanish), to our Technical Department. These two internal employees are excited and ready to work closely with Planet Telecom clients who require any technical assistance.
We are very proud of Jose and Libni, who have gained some solid experience out in the field and as a result, have a strong working knowledge of all elements of our network, and have first hand experience working directly with clients.
This experience positions them as the perfect team members to be working within our technical department.
We will continue to grow this department and will be adding a third team member to the group later this month.
As many of your know, Alvaro Serrano left us a couple of months ago and November 31st was Eibar Delgado's last day with us.
While we are always saddened by the loss of team members, We at Planet Telecom Panama wish them the best in their new endeavors and thank them for the hard work and dedication to our business.

With these ongoing changes it is increasingly important for our clients work within the processes and to call the office (+507-777‐9200 option 4) or use for support and not call individual cell phones or emails.
While you can expect that same great service from our team, it is of the utmost importance that we follow this process, as it is how we track our open issues and support needs for our clients both short and long term. This level of reporting is not only critical for maintaining the flow of regular day to day support, it is a crucial part of our tracking, monitoring, and reporting system that we pull data from in order to better service our clients.

We appreciate our clients understanding this request, and look forward to working with you closely in the future.

New Planet Telecom Panama Site: We have been working diligently on our new and revised Planet Telecom site, and expect it will go live in the next week or so.
This new site will offer better access to information and will allow us to better communicate with our clients moving forward.

Our Network:
We are constantly striving to make new and exciting changes to our network that will deliver greater reliability, rely less on third party infrastructure and deliver a better over all experience to our clients.
Battery Back Up Project:
We are proud to report that we are now 95% complete on our task to install 12 hour battery backup systems in all of our tower locations, the last one will be complete next week.
This project will enable greater reliability across our network and will help to ensure that services are delivered to clients with greater uptime.


Additional Fibre Connection: We are proud to report that after much negotiation, one of our carriers has (finally) added a redundant fibre connection to our main pipe in Panama City.
So far we have had no issues or outages since the addition of the redundant fibre, but to be safe, we will continue to monitor our network and make adjustments.

We will continue to look forward as we make improvements and expand our network and appreciate the patience and loyalty of our clients as we strive to be the best ISP in Chiriqui.
